Allegany County Teacher of the Year
On Monday, March 23, 2015, the Board of Education of Allegany County hosted the 27th Annual Teacher of the Year Banquet at Mountain Ridge High School. Dr. Stephanie Marchbank was selected as the 2015-2016 Allegany County Teacher of the Year. Congratulations Dr. Stephanie Marchbank! We are proud to have you with us!

Model UN
Congratulations to all students who participated in the Model UN event yesterday at Frostburg State University, and special recognition to Hunter Barclay, Karli Hakala, Makea Luzader, and Audrey Jones for receiving the Outstanding Delegation award at the event.

After Prom Meeting
The next after prom meeting will be held on April 8th at 6:30 PM in the school library.

Hunter Barclay Serves as Student Page
Hunter Barclay recently returned from being a student page in the Maryland General Assembly. During his time in Annapolis, Hunter met Governor Hogan, Congressman Delaney, Senator Cardin, and many other prominent politicians. Hunter said, "Being a student page has been one of the most rewarding experiences, and I learned more than I could ever imagine about our state's government."

New Carson Scholarship Winners
Congratulations to Joshua Trenum, Garrett Ternent, Hayden Lindsey, Daniel Jones, Noah DeMichele, and Sabrina Frost for being recognized as Carson Scholarship Winners for the 2014-2015 school year. When these individuals’ plagues arrive, they will be placed on the Carson Scholarship Trophy located in the 2nd display case in the main lobby.


SADD Participates in Kick Butts Day
MRHS SADD students participated in Kick Butts Day, the national anti-tobacco campaign, on March 18th.  Students made posters and a bulletin board.  During the lunch shifts, MRHS students had the opportunity to pledge to be tobacco-free and participate in activities.  Ms. Kathy Dudley from the Health Department also spoke to Mr. Nightengale's and Mr. Hobel's health classes and was the guest speaker in our after-school program.

Spring Musical
The Drama Club is proud to present its spring musical, Bye, Bye, Birdie March 20th and 21st and March 27th-29th. Show times are 7 p.m. and the Sunday show at 3 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door - $12.00 for adults and $5.00 for students. Come on and put on a happy face and support the arts.

Custom Community Cookbook
The Mountain Ridge High School Endowment Committee is creating a custom cookbook featuring favorite recipes from our community. Money raised will be used for academic endeavors and scholarships. Senior Scholarships
Five new scholarships have been placed in the scholarship boxes in the guidance office. Stop in and pick some up!!

Cap and Gown Delivery March 27th
Attention seniors: Balfour will be here on Friday, March 27th to deliver cap and gown units and senior items. All balances are due at that time. Cash or money orders will be accepted, no personal checks. Seniors will be called to the main lobby by last name. If there are any questions please see Crystal in the office.

Allegany College of Maryland
Any senior attending Allegany College of Maryland next year and is interested in a work – study job for this summer, please stop in the guidance office for more information.

Seniors, with less than 70 days left of school before graduation, have you thought about the legacy you leave behind as the MRHS Class of 2015?
As we are quickly approaching that graduation date, members of the senior class are invited to submit individual speeches for this year’s graduation commencement ceremony.
All submissions are due by Wednesday, April 15, 2015. More information on requirements  will be distributed by seniors English teachers this week.

Graduation announcements, accesories, and Cap/Gown units can be ordered at; The late order program will run from Feb.2-Apr. 24. All cap/gown units will be delivered to the school, and beginning in April, all announcements and accessories will be delivered to your home.
