Indoor Track Regional Meet
Hayden Lindsey placed first in the boys' shot put with a throw of 49 feet and Molly Offstein won the girls 800m run in 2:42.22. Molly also placed third in the 1600m with a season personal record of 5:24.41. Harry Moore placed 8th with a time of 38.13 in the boys 300m. Harry also accomplished a personal record in the 800m with a time of 2:14.78 placing 11th. Ryan Copeland, a junior, ran his personal record of 9.95 in the boys 55m hurdles earning 11th place. Only the top 24 athletes in the region are allowed to compete at the competition with the top 4 or a state qualifying time or mark advancing them to states. Hayden and Molly move onto the State Championship scheduled for Monday, February 15 at Prince George's Sports & Learning Center in Landover, Maryland.
Niven Hegeman Signs to Play at Maryland
Niven Hegeman, a senior at Mountain Ridge High School, recently signed her National Letter of Intent to play women’s soccer for the University of Maryland. Niven was the Times-News Player of the Year, 1st Team All Area, and First Team All AMAC for both the 2014 and 2015 soccer seasons. Tickets for the snowball dance will be on sale during all lunch shifts. Tickets are eight dollars per person.

Warm Up for Winter
It’s getting colder outside, so it’s time to help others in our community to stay warm. S.A.D.D. is beginning its annual “Warm up for Winter” campaign. Please donate hats, gloves and mittens, scarves, coats, and blankets. Don’t forget the animal rescue who can use dog and cat food and old towels and blankets. See the flyers in the hallways or Ms. Martin and Ms. Durst if you have questions.
