Coins for the Community
Ninth grade students in Jennifer Bonsell’s and Leslie Martin’s English classes at Mountain Ridge High School recently collected “Coins for the Community.”  This annual Service Learning project benefits local charities.  Since 2010, students have donated over $5,000 to various organizations.

2017 Tom Patterson Memorial Wrestling Clinic
Mountain Ridge is sponsoring a wrestling clinic in honor of Tom Patterson Saturday June 10th and Sunday June 11th for grades 2 - 12. If you are interested and want more information click here.

Mountain Ridge Sponsoring Youth Fooball Camp
Mountian Ridge will be sponsoring a Youth Football Camp July 10th, 11th, and 12th. For more information and to download the registration form click here.

State Results
Results from the Boys’ State Track Meet: Bryce Miller finished 7th in the 200-meter dash, Noah DeMichelle finished 6th in the shot put and Kaden McElhenny jumped 6’ 4” to claim that State Championship in the high jump.

MRHS Basketball Camp
Mountain Ridge High School will conduct a Basketball Camp June 12th through June 16th, 2017. The camp is open to all children entering 3rd grade through 9th grade Fall 2017. Camp will begin at 9:00 AM and end at 11:30 AM. The cost for the camp is $50.00.

Mountain Ridge Holds 10th Annual Senior Accolades Night -May 17, 2017
Mountain Ridge High School recently held their 2017 Accolades Night honoring students who excelled in different areas of the school. To see the list of award winners click here.

 

Jordyn Green Earns Second Place in Rotary Speech Contest
Jordyn Green, a senior at Mountain Ridge High, was awarded second place in the Northeast Region Rotary 4-Way Test Speech contest that took place on May 13 at Poconos, PA. She had previously won first place in contests at her school, Allegany County, and the district contest. Her speech topic was internet safety. Congratulations, Jordyn - we are so proud of your accomplishments!


Morgan Edwards Advances to 2nd Round
Morgan Edwards, a junior at Mountain Ridge High, was selected to advance to the second round of the 2017 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest.  Less than 10% of submissions were advanced to the second round of judging. The Profile in Courage Essay Contest challenges students to write an original and creative essay that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage.

Brianna Ralston Nominated to Attend Ambassador Leadership Summit
Brianna Ralston, a junior at Mountain Ridge High School, has been nominated to attend the 2017 Ambassador Leadership Summit based on demonstration of outstanding scholastic merit, leadership potential, and exemplary citizenship.  She will attend the Leadership Summit in July at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
At the Ambassador Leadership Summit in Harvard, Brianna and other student leaders will come together to collaborate and get equipped with new knowledge and tools to take their leadership to the next level. She will be working with fellow students who come from as many as 140 countries, which makes the summit a melting pot of cultures and ideas, providing new global perspectives for the challenges and opportunities this generation will face, and how each of them can make a difference—in their lives, their communities, and the world.
Brianna Ralston is a member of the National Honor Society with a 4.3 GPA.  She is a Varsity Cheerleader and was named an All-American Cheerleader by Elite Cheer. Brianna was named Mountain Ridge Junior Homecoming Princess by her classmates.  She is a member of the Unified Track and Field Team, the Unified Bocce Ball team, Spanish Club, and SADD.  Brianna is the daughter of Jennifer Hosken Ralston and John Ralston, Jr.



Students  from Mountain Ridge High School’s S.A.D.D.  (Students Against Destructive Decisions) recently designed a billboard and recorded radio ads as part of a collaborative effort with Kathy Dudley, Allegany County Health Department, and Joe and Kerri Caporale of the Carporale Group  to emphasize the health risks of using e-cigarettes.   Students who designed the billboard are Angela Colmer, Shyanne Foutz, Donna Morgan, and Sarah Robertson.  Students who wrote and recorded radio ads are Brandi Morgan, Brianna Ralston, and Aashe Singh.  The ads can be heard on local ARC radio stations, and the billboard will be displayed soon.  Leslie Martin is the SADD Advisor at MRHS, and Kathy Dudley is a Health Educator for the Tobacco Use Prevention and Promotion program at the Allegany County Health Department.
