Hoffman
Claire Hoffman Earns Scholarship to Study Abroad
Congratulations to Claire Hoffman, a sophomore at Mountain Ridge High School, who is a recipient of the AFS Global Prep Scholarship to study abroad for two weeks this summer! Claire submitted an essay detailing her plans to become a doctor and assist people in countries that may be affected by environmental and climate change. Because her essay impressed the Mountain Maryland AFS scholarship committee, Claire will be spending two weeks in Kenya this summer.

Summer Clinic
Trey Staley and PIVOT will offer a summer clinic for students that may be interested in pursuing a career in the field of training, rehab, medicine, etc. It is open to any students from Allegany County. The three day clinic will be held August 1-3 from 9 am to 1 pm. Any questions, see Mrs. Blank.

Attention Students!

Are you looking for a fun activity to do during the summer? Well, the children’s literature center at FSU is sponsoring “Pirates Ahoy” again this year. It is similar to storybook holiday, except pirates are involved instead of elves. You may have seen some flyers posted around school about this special event. If you think you can help out on Wednesday, July 13, and would like to sign up, that’s fantastic! If you can’t help on July 13, don’t be discouraged. FSU is also looking for helpers to make crafts during the week of June 20-24 to get ready for the event. If you are interested and think that you can help out the little pirates of our community, please see Mrs. Goodwin in room 312 to sign up and get more details.
