The Class of 2011 has been chosen to participate in the GEAR-UP program. GEAR-UP is a grant sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, the Maryland State Department of Education and the Allegany County School System. It is a six year program, which will conclude in June, 2011. GEAR-UP will provide these students with awareness and readiness for post-secondary opportunities, with math as a focus. GEAR-UP is for all students in the Mountain Ridge High School Class of 2011. Robert Hunter is the coordinator of the program. He is a certified guidance counselor with 36 years of educational experience.
